Our Board and Train Program is a completely life changing experience. We teach exceptional obedience but also focus on behavioral modification and creating a calmer dog overall. Our clients are amazed when they see what their dog is truly capable of.
Board & Train Program
The 3 week board and train program is our most popular program.
If you have a dog that pulls on the leash, doesn't listen or "only listens when to you when they want to..." then this is the program for you! The Board and Train at Hoku K9 Training is a completely immersive program where we not only teach obedience but also work on your dogs mindset by providing structure, building confidence and creating a calm dog.
We focus on creating a calmer dog that will listen to you in distracting environments. While your dog is in the Board and Train: we teach obedience and then proof that obedience in many different environments such as shopping centers and parks. This is so your dog can succeed at home and away from home!
In this program, your dog will learn the following skills and commands:
- Walk politely with you On- and Off-Leash (We will eliminate Pulling, Barking, Excitable Behavior)
- Sit/Stay
- Down/Stay
- Place Command
- Recall Training (with and without distractions)
- Duration work (long stays with distractions)
- Crate Training (including destructiveness, whining, barking, etc.)
- Waiting at Thresholds (Doors, Car, Crate, etc.)
- Leadership skills with your dog to restructure your relationship so your dog listens to you, not the other way around
We will also focus on any minor behavior issues, such as:
- Jumping, Nipping, Mouthing
- Excessive Barking
- Counter-Surfing
My biggest goal is to create a calmer dog that listens to you in all situations and is not reactive to changes and distractions in the environment.
This program comes with access to our Private Board & Train videos and three private one on one training sessions with you and your dog. While in the program, your dog will be learning A LOT, so while your dog is in the program we ask you to watch the training videos so that you can keep up to speed on what your dog will be learning.
All of our board and train programs include both on and off leash training. This solves a lot of your common problems like getting your dog to come to you when there are distractions and getting your dog to behave in public.
Overall the board and train is our most popular training program because it is an immersive program. Meaning that your dog will receive structure, training and gain a different mindset.

Training Program
For puppies under 6 months old
The Puppy Program is designed to help you and your puppy be the best dog they can be! The puppy stage can be very challenging… but is much better with the right information to help you along the way.
Our Puppy Program is designed to help you and your puppy during the most important stages of their development. This is why we do half the training when the puppy is younger than 6 months old, and the second half when the puppy is 6-7 months old. This training structure helps you with both the puppy stage and the adolescence stage of your dogs development.

Our Puppy Program is designed to help you and your puppy during the most important stages of their development. We usually do the first half of the training when your puppy is 14-16 weeks old but can start as early as 12 weeks old.

Rehabilitation Program
The 4 week board and train is for dogs with more serious behavioral issues
The 4 week board and train is for dogs with behavioral issues such as extreme leash reactivity, food aggression, resource guarding, separation anxiety, destructive crate anxiety, debilitating fearful behavior, excessive urination in the home.
If you think that your dog may have any of these behavioral issues, contact us so that we can find the best program to fit your dogs needs. I may also ask for a short video of your dog so that we can see some of their behavioral problems.
For dogs with severe or debilitating behavioral issues, such as extreme fear, this program can be very beneficial because it is an immersive program. By taking the dog out of their normal environment and putting them into a program with structure, rules, and balance they are able to progress in ways they might not be able to at home. This rehabilitation process may take time even after the dog returns home. Which is why we encourage you to provide your dog with plenty of structure, guidance and balance at home so that they can maintain the progress they have achieved while in the program.
All dogs in this program will also learn everything in our three week training program, but this program also addresses behavioral issues such as:
- leash reactivity
- extreme separation anxiety
- extreme crate anxiety
- debilitating fear
- resource guarding
- aggression (this may require 5 - 6 weeks depending on the severity)
This program also includes access to our private board and train play list as well as 4 private one on one training sessions.
